Like many artists, my choices in materials and methods have evolved over the years. I was trained as a classic sculptor with long standing interests in clay, metal and wood. These interests have afforded me the opportunity to make many eclectic and engaging objects.
Recently, I have had two main areas of focus: Making wooden forms turned on the lathe and then altering their surfaces, through carving, additions/subtractions, or adding epoxy resin. I really enjoy the resin infused shapes as they add an additional layer of light and color.
The second would be making wooden Automatons. These are Kinetic wooden sculptures that act out little vignettes when you crank a handle or turn a knob. I am particularly drawn to the retro look of early science fiction movies.
My work can be found in private collections as well as museums in the United States and the United Kingdom.
