Cold Cast Metals combined with Turned Wood Bases

These sculptural shapes are formed by making molds of common objects, casting them with metal powder infused epoxy, and combining them with turned hardwoods to create very tactile objects.

Wood and translucent resin polished to a glass like surface.

These bowl sculptures have been turned on an antique lathe dating to the late 1800s, their surfaces are carefully pierced  and filled with a dense epoxy casting resin. Once the resin has set they are sanded/polished to a glass like surface allowing the light to pass through. They are designed to sit on a flat surface or hang on a wall, allowing them to glow with an inner beauty.

Figured Wood with Stains and Dyes

These bowls were turned on an antique lathe from highly figured woods and dyed with different colors. The colorants penetrate the wood fibers causing them to change their intensity at different angles. (It will look slightly different as you move around it.)  After the dyes are applied they are hand rubbed with Tung and Walnut oils to create a deep satin shine. They have been designed to sit on a flat surface as well as hang on a wall.
